Cash gifts for wedding showers?

Is it appropriate to ask for cash gifts only for a wedding shower?

Use your bridesmaids to spread the word%26#039; for you rather than asking for cash directly. Hopefully you will avoid offending anyone that way.

..and be prepared.. Your gonna get a lotta %26#039;Tackys%26#039; thrown at you for asking that!! There are a lot of old fashioned posters on here.

No. It is never appropriate to ask for anything. You mustn%26#039;t assume you will be getting gifts.

I believe it%26#039;s fine to put where you are registered on wedding shower invitations, but definitely NOT for your wedding invitations.

The reason for this is because usually your maid of honor or someone else is throwing the shower for you (so it doesn%26#039;t look like you are the one asking for gifts) and the ultimate purpose of a shower is to get gifts, but it is still not appropriate to mention cash in either invite.

Good luck.|||It is never appropriate to ask for gifts on any kind.|||You should not ask for cash gifts, but you can make a note of it on the registry.|||No, that%26#039;s rude. It kind of defeats the purpose for the shower then!

It%26#039;s not appropriate for ANY occasion to ask for cash...

How about just being grateful for whatever gifts people choose to give you....|||It is not appropriate to ask for cash under any circumstances. If you just want money, then you don%26#039;t want a shower. The point of a shower is for your guests to shower you with the things you%26#039;ll need to establish your home. If you don%26#039;t need anything, you don%26#039;t need to have a shower.
